Goldsmithing is a real craft, which means working with your hands and of course tools. Those help a lot.

A goldsmith works not only with gold, but also with silver or other metals. A goldsmith makes jewelry and focuses on the small pieces. A silversmith makes utensils, such as bowls and candlesticks.
Here you can see photos of big part of the work process of creating a 14kt golden ring.
On the round soldering stone I heat the ring with a burner to soften the gold (annealing) or I solder the ring. In between all these steps I am sanding and filing the jewelry.
